How many times have we heard or said this, “This is it the year I am going to get in shape.” “I am going to make some serious changes this year.” Some of those words may sound familiar. Let this year be the year you make those words become real. We have all heard about how important it is to be healthy and take care of ourselves. By taking time out to put yourself and your health first you will discover that everything else will start to fall into place.

Benefits of putting yourself first There are many great things that happen when we start to take care of ourselves and our health. We gaining a new sense of self. We begin to see strengths that we did not even know where there. We unlock a new feeling of confidence within ourselves. We become more productive and improved overall. We not only become more productive in our personal lives but our professional lives as well. Those task that use to weight us down or cause anxiety become challenges to be conquered. We become better mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and so forth. The time is now! Do not put off a positive change in your life one more day. If the fire of your New Years’ resolution has already burned the time is now to start a new fire and keep it going. Putting yourself and your health first positively impact everything that you do. You become a stronger person mentally, physically and emotionally. Why does all this matter, because you matter. You are worth it. Let this be your year of change!   1. Take time to recharge and reconnect to people, things and activities you love
  2. Do things that bring you joy, find a new hobby
  3. Try things that you have always wanted to but never made the time for
  4. Improve your time management
  5. Make a list and prioritize it
  6. Add a few just for fun things not all work
  7. Change the negative attitude into a positive one
  8. Laugh a bit more

Tips to put your health first

  1. Making healthy choices eating, food is fuel to our bodies
  2. Getting more sleep it improves your attitude, decision making and many other skills
  3. Reconnect to spiritual side, spend time in prayer or meditation
  4. Walking, get up and get out there off the couch
  5. Drink more water, stay hydrated
  6. Stretch, try yoga to get in a bit of mind body centeredness
  7. Have some silence, it really is golden
  8. Pack healthy snacks to eat throughout the day

Don’t give up if you get loss

Many times we get distracted. Sometimes we loss focus or motivation. It is in these times that we must really reconnect to why all this matters and how it will help us overall. If we find that we get off track it is important to know that it is never to let to pick ourselves back up and keep going.
  • Refocus on what your goal truly is and why it matters to you.
  • Regroup be realistic in what it is you want to do. Of course aim high but not so high that it is impossible to reach and you become more discouraged than before.
  • Restart the last and final thing is to make it happen. Get back out there and start moving, go after your goals that you have set out and start taking action.
