Remodel Your Sleep Routine for Quality Rest

Does it ever feel like you never receive quality rest? As if you went to bed laid there all night and never got a wink of sleep? Like everyone else in the house is fast asleep and you are up frustrated about not being able to sleep. Your thoughts will not turn off long enough for you to receive the rest that you need for the next day. You are tired but unable to fully unwind.
We have all been there. It happens to the best of us and it’s very difficult. When you face the challenge of getting quality rest try these simple tips below to help transform your restful nights into relaxation.

Back to the basics –Set a bed time

This is a great place to start. Quite often people tell me that they wish they had taken more naps when they were younger. Since you can’t get that time back. Valuing your rest now is important. An hour or two before you go to bed start setting the vibe for great rest. Turn the lights down low. This will signal to your body and mind that it’s time to prepare for the closing of your day. Do healthy things to help yourself get quality rest. Set a bed time and stick to it. This will create structure and signal to your body that is time to slow down your day.

Punch out- Clock Out

It is super easy to think of all the millions of task, responsibilities, deadlines and the unending to do list of responsibilities that pile up. At the end of your day at a set time clock out. Save it for tomorrow. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own (Matthew 6:34). Instead of thinking about it forever and ever give yourself time to rest from the day.

Take a Sip

Having tea (Chamomile or sleepy time tea) can encourage you to start the resting relaxation time. Having a simple sip will give you the cue for the rest you will need to recharge for the next day. Don’t only have the tea but put it in your favorite mug or tea-cup if you want to be fancy. (Pinkie’s up) Item’s with Ones with positive messages, funny images or statements reinforcing healthy habits of self-care are helpful.

Have a cleansing routine

Take a shower or soak in the tub. Get super clean. Wash off your day. While you are there wash off anxieties, unmet expectations and frustrations from the day. Instead of holding onto these day time events allow yourself time to prepare for relaxation and rest. Wash your face, brush your teeth and set the tone for sleep and peace.

Read: Take a trip by book

Spending time reading (NOT, just on Facebook and Twitter) is a great ways to unwind. Send yourself to a far off land. Discovery the strengths of another by reading a biography. Slip into the Sci-fi realm and away from reality. Reading is a wonderful way to relax. It is a quick way to invite a little adventure.

Evening prayers  and meditations

Spending silent time in prayer and meditations can help you to close out your day in a positive way. Instead of filling your mind up with unfinished thoughts and ideas, spend time in prayer and peace. You can choose to meditate on a single word or pray about specific situations. This is a personal preference choose what will fit you best and go with it.
By making these small changes you will begin to experience more tranquility and inner harmony. Receive the quality rest that you’ve been missing. Become more emotionally and mentally stable. These healthy changes can also positively impact your morning.
