Decision Clarity Session

When You Know You Need to Make a Decision, but You Don’t Trust Yourself Enough to Make It

You have thought about it.
Replayed the possibilities.
Asked yourself what you should do.
Maybe you have even asked other people for their opinion.

And you still feel stuck.

After narcissistic abuse, trauma, or years of having your judgment questioned, making an important decision becomes difficult to trust.

You may know your options but struggle to separate what you want, what you fear, and what you have been conditioned to believe.

A Decision Clarity Session is a highly-focused 90-minute therapy session designed to help you examine what is influencing the decision, clarify what matters most to you, and identify what comes next.

You will not be told what decision to make.
You will be guided through a structured process to help you make a more informed, grounded decision of your own.

I’m Ready to Find Clarity

Is a Decision Clarity Session Right for Me?

A Decision Clarity Session may be right for you if:

  • You keep circling the same decision without getting closer to an answer.
  • You are afraid of making the wrong choice.
  • You know your options but do not trust your judgment.
  • Fear, guilt, obligation, or someone else’s reaction is making it difficult to know what you want.
  • You keep searching for reassurance but still do not feel settled.
  • You want focused professional support with one specific decision without committing to ongoing weekly therapy.

This session can help with decisions such as:

  • Staying, leaving, or making a change in a relationship.
  • Setting or maintaining a boundary.
  • Reducing, ending, or resuming contact with someone.
  • Having a difficult conversation.
  • Accepting or declining an opportunity.
  • Making a significant personal or life change.
  • Taking a next step you have been postponing because you are afraid of getting it wrong.

Your decision may look different.
But the underlying question is often the same: “What if I choose wrong?”

What Will I Actually Get From the Session?

This is more than spending 90 minutes talking about the problem.

You complete brief prework beforehand so we can spend the session working directly with the decision.

Together, we will:

Clarify the decision.
Identify what you are actually trying to decide and what is making it difficult.

Untangle the noise.
Separate fear, guilt, pressure, past experiences, and other people’s expectations from your own needs and values.

Evaluate your options.
Examine what each choice may give you, cost you, protect, or require.

Identify your own perspective.
Clarify what you want when fear, pressure, and the need to make the “perfect” decision become quieter.

Determine what comes next.
Identify whether you are ready to make the decision, move toward a preferred option, or take a specific step before deciding.

Before We Meet

You will receive brief pre-session exercises designed to help you begin organizing your thoughts before the appointment.

Values Clarity

Identify what matters most to you and how those values relate to the decision.

Self-Care Grounding Support Plan

Identify what helps you think clearly, stay emotionally steady, and manage overwhelm when fear, pressure, or self-doubt begins to take over.

Decision Snapshot

Clarify the decision, the options you currently see, and what you are most afraid of getting wrong.
You do not have to figure everything out before the session.
The preparation simply gives us a clearer place to begin.

What If I Still Don’t Know What to Do After 90 Minutes?

You do not have to make a final decision during the session for the session to be successful.

You can leave with:

A Decision

You have enough clarity to make the decision and move forward.

A Direction

You can leave knowing which option feels most aligned with your needs, values, and circumstances, and what your next step is.

A Next Step

You know what information, conversation, boundary, or action needs to happen before you can make the larger decision.

The goal is not to force an answer before you are ready.
It is to help you leave less stuck, more informed, and clearer about what comes next.

What Happens After I Make the Decision?

Making a thoughtful decision can bring clarity, but it may not eliminate every doubt right away.

You may still experience:

  • Second-guessing
  • Guilt or fear
  • Worry that discomfort means you chose incorrectly

Before the session ends, we will create a brief Decision Support Plan that identifies why you made the choice, what your next step is, and how you will handle doubt, outside pressure, or second-guessing afterward.

The goal is to help you stay connected to the reasoning, values, and needs that guided your decision as you move forward.

Feeling uncertain afterward does not automatically mean the decision was wrong.

You Remain the Decision-Maker

This session is designed to help you make a more informed, grounded decision, not to have someone else make it for you.

You will not be forced to decide whether to leave a relationship, end contact, set a particular boundary, or choose one option over another.

Instead, we will examine what is influencing the decision, clarify what matters most to you, and identify the choice or next step that feels most aligned with your needs, values, and circumstances.

The decision is still yours to make.

Rebuilding self-trust does not mean feeling certain about every choice.
It means learning how to gather information and listen to yourself. Reclaiming yourself is about making thoughtful decisions and trusting yourself to handle what comes next.

Optional Follow-Up Support

Sometimes new information, second-guessing, or changes in the situation come up after the Decision Clarity Session.

You can schedule a follow-up therapy session to reassess the decision, work through doubt or outside pressure, and determine whether your next step still fits.

Ongoing therapy is not required.

You May Not Need Another Opinion

You may need a focused place to sort through what is influencing your decision and hear your own perspective more clearly.

If you have been stuck between options, afraid of choosing wrong, or unable to tell what you actually want anymore, a 90-minute Decision Clarity Session helps you move from circling the decision toward a clearer next step.

You don’t have to know what you’re going to decide before you begin.

You only need to be ready to look at the decision differently and find greater clarity about what comes next.

Includes prework and a Decision Support Plan. Optional follow-up sessions are available if needed.
