Narcissism is a personality style and not a diagnosis. Characteristics and traits of narcissism:

  • Lack of empathy
  • Entitlement
  • Arrogance
  • Admiration and validation seeking
  • Grandiosity
  • Chronic egocentricity
  • Dysregulated anger
  • Envy
  • Exploiting
  • Incapacity for intimacy
  • Superficiality
  • Validation in public and abuse in private

Different types of narcissism

There are different types of narcissism as a result there are similarities as well as unique traits. These are the most commonly known types of narcissism grandiose, covert (vulnerable), malignant, and communal. As more research is done extensions of the different types of narcissism continue to be introduced.

Narcissism is not

  • Being confident
  • Having concerns about their appearance
  • Being assertive
  • Is not self-love

People with narcissistic behaviors and traits

  • Display false confidence
  • Highly insecure
  • Are overly concerned about their appearance and public image
  • Are manipulative, and pushy with their assertion, there is malicious intent behind their asserting
